In “Baja-SAE India-20”a national level competition held in the region, organized by the Mahindra Sponsored Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), DY Patil Engineering College of Akurdi won the first prize. In addition, the vehicle made by the students bagged the first prize in 5 different categories as acceleration, speed, durability and endurance. A history has been created by securing the first position in the 5 out of 8 categories.
The competition has gained popularity in recent years and is widely recognized as one of the most prestigious national level competition. Every year, many colleges across the country participate in this competition for national championship. The competition has always been dominated by ‘DY Patil College of Engineering Akurdi’. This year too, DY Patil College of Engineering Akurdi has won a title in the “Baja India 20” competition and carved its name on the competition. The competition was organized on the largest test route in Asia from Pritampur in Madhya Pradesh.
The Brief of the event was given in the press conference organized by the College today. Col. S.K. Joshi, Director of ‘DY Patil Education Complex Akurdi’., Principal Dr. Vijay Wadhai, Vice Principal Dr. P. Malathi, Head of the Department, Dr. Vinay Kulkarni, Faculty Coordinator Prof. Sunil Patil were present for the press conference.
Principal Dr. Vijay Wadhai explained how this activity benefits all students for placement, for providing quality education to all students as well as for the overall development of the students.
Col. S. K Joshi further said, “The success achieved by the students of ‘DY Patil College of Engineering Akurdi’ in the national level competition of Baja is certainly commendable. Our DY Patil College of Engineering Akurdi students are the first prize winners among the eminent 120 engineering colleges across the country.
Their success will be an inspiration to other college students. DY Patil College of Engineering Akurdi has always made its mark on this competition. In this competition, the talent, quality and skills of the students are tested and the students of DY Patil College of Engineering have consistently proved their status by achieving success.
Students from Production and E&T also participated in the Team Predators with the mechanical department of the college. Sanket Raut (Captain), Pranav Khatekar (Driver Manager), Apurva Mahind, Sourav Ingle, Tejas Dhakate, Vishakha Kotkar, Rigveda Bopardikar, Anshul Gupta, Srikanth Nakhate, Kevin Bhosle, Vipul Jadhav, Prithviraj Shinde, Ali Abu Farjand , Pratik Birajdar, Vedanta Kulkarni, Mrinal Daundkar and Mrinal Argade are the members of the team Predators.
Chairman of the Institute Hon. Satej D. Patil congratulated all the students and wished them all the luck for their future endeavors.
