AirAsia India ferries migrant workers from Jammu to Odisha

Share

As the nation is working relentlessly to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, we are committed to doing our bit by recognising the efforts of those at the frontline with the AirAsia #RedPass initiative offering 50,000 seats on our domestic flights to doctors and by supporting efforts to enable migrant communities reach home safely to their families with AirAsia’s #UmeedKiUdaan charter flights.

During the lockdown, we operated select cargo flights carrying essentials like Covid supplies and PPE kits. #UmeedKiUdaan took wings as flight operations resumed, to help stranded migrant workers from across the country reach home. In addition to other destinations like Dehradun and Ranchi, we have already operated flights for migrant guests returning home to Orissa from Imphal, Guwahati, Mumbai and Kochi and are thankful to the Odisha government for extending support for this noble initiative again for our latest flight for migrants returning from Jammu to Bhubaneswar.

Commenting on the initiative, Anup Manjeshwar, Head, Sales & Distribution, AirAsia India said “As per standard protocol, all our guests are screened before boarding and provided customised AirAsia safety kits comprising Masks, Sanitiser and Face Shields for their personal safety. AirAsia India is proud of this initiative with more flights on the horizon as we look forward to working with other like-minded individuals and organizations keen on supporting migrant communities.
