The book ‘1952 Cha Singham’, which tells the story of the sincere and aggressive work of retired police officer Shri. Shyamlal Bamb (age 93), is being published on 5th December 2020, under the auspices of Shri Krishna Prakash, Commissioner of Police, Pimpri Chinchwad. Well known poet and astrologer Smt. Pratibhatai Shahu Modak, Mr. Rajendra Dahale – DIG Police Wireless – Pune, and well-known commentator and writer Manjiri Dhamankar will be present as honorary guests.

In this book, his grandson Shri Shrenik Kankaria has proudly described the duty of Shri Shamlalji Bamb, who vowed to give relief to the people by punishing the criminals without succumbing to any pressure. Mrs. Manjiri Dhamankar has beautifully worded this book.

A real Singham. A police officer who abides by all the rules and supports the common man and imprisons the goons. In movies, the jeep takes a few drifts, the cop throws the goons into the air (defying all the rules of physics) and we applaud, but we were amazed to hear this Singham who worked so hard in 1952 and still recounts his memories with such enthusiasm today and the way his grandson has penned those memories in book form is really readable for today’s generation. At that time and era, in a backward town like Jalna, a member of a Jain family joined the police department. It was difficult to digest for the Jain community which finds peace in the traditional groceries and textiles businesses, but Shyamlal Bamb’s desire to do something different led him to enter this new field and retire after a long and successful career.
