Former Union Minister SHARAD YADAV, one of the finest politicians of our times, has passed away at the age of 75. Mr Yadav, who hailed from Bihar, had been suffering from kidney ailment for sometime now.
“He was brought to the hospital in an unresponsive state…,” doctors at Gurugram’s Fortis Hospital said. A product of JP movement, he was the minister in Atal Behari Vajpayee Government and V P Singh Government.
Mr Yadav is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter. His body will be taken to his native village in Madhya Pradesh.
Leaders from across political spectrum tweeted their condolences.
“Pained by the passing away of Shri Sharad Yadav Ji,” the Prime Minister Narendra Modi was among those who offered his condolences.
” In his long years in public life, he distinguished himself as MP and Minister… I will always cherish our interactions. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti.”
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is on Bharat Jodo Yatra, said Mr Yadav’s “contribution to the country will always be remembered.”
He was elected to Lok Sabha for a record seven times and was a member of Rajya Sabha for three terms. It was Mr Yadav who was one of the founders of the Janata Dal which is ruling Bihar. He was upset after Nitish Kumar had walked out of the alliance with RJD and joined hands with BJP.
