Pune: AS Ayodhya wears a festive look and an atmosphere like Diwali prevailed, consecration of Ram Temple was held this afternoon in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. History was created as 500 year old struggle for setting up of the temple came to an end for Hindus.
The inauguration of the Ram temple was held even as top personalities from different fields, including the filmy world, h descended in the town where Tetra Yug-like scene has come alive.
The inauguration of the Ram temple took place at 12.29. As the temple rituals were being held, 121 Vedic priets initiated the consecreation, which is known as Pran Prathishtha in Hindi. Priests reached the temple around 8 am . Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Ayodhya around 10.30 am today. He took part in the consecration ceremony from 12 noon to 1 pm and then addressed the crowd.
The stage was set in Ayodhya well before the consecration cerwmoney. The idol of Ram Lalla was bathed in water from 14 ‘kalash’ on Sunday It was then taken in a procession and brought to the sanctum sanctorum. The main ritual Madhvadhivas came to an end with Shayandhivas on Sunday. Shayandhivas means Ram Lalla idol had been put to sleep after week long ritual.s Flowers from across the country have enlivened Ayodhya-nagari. Over 8000 chairs had been laid for those invited to attend the event.
The Prime Minister, who is leading from the front, on Sunday ended his 11-day ritual with a visit to Kothandaramaswamy temple in Tamil Nadu. At the temple, a special puja was conducted in presence of the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister started the rituals on January 12 by visiting Panchvati in Nashik where Lord Ram spent major period of his exile. During his visit to Nashik, he had offered prayers at the famous Kalaram temple. He also performed puja at Shree Ram Kund.
Besides Nashik, the Prime Minister also visited Veebhadra temple in Andhra Pradesh, Guruvayur and Shree Ramaswami temples in Kerala and Sri Ranganathaswamy in Tamil Nadu.
Meanwhile, President Droupadi Murmu, in a letter to Prime Minister Modi, said ”she can only contemplate the unique civilisation journey that will be accomplished with each step taken by you in the hallowed precincts.”
Lord Ram’s focus on justice and welfare of the people, the President, said is reflected in the governance outlook of the our country.”
On the other hand, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, who will be among the chief guests for the consecration ceremony in Ayodhya, said the inauguration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya was an occasion to end the bitterness in the society and enlightened people of the society should ensure that the dispute does not remain so and ends, once and for all. The event, he said, is marked the re-awakening of the national pride.
