Habitat India and SBI Capital Market on Saturday donated 125 beds, mattresses PPE kits and sanitation kits to Lokmanya Hospital, Chinchwad and three other hospitals who have been treated COVID-19 patients and have reported good recoveries.

Pimpri-Chinchwad BJP chief Mahesh Landge, MLA donated the beds and other material to the three hospitals at a function at Lokmanya Hospital. Deputy Mayor Tushar Hinge, corporators Moreshwar Shedge, Sheetal Shinde, Rajendra Gawde, Lokmanya vice-president Capt Hemant Kulkarni, Group CEO Sunil Kale, Habitant for Humanities MD Rajan Samuel and additional director John Mathews were present on the occasion. The three other hospitals are Star, Sterling and Sant Dnyaneshwar, The Express reported today.

Praising doctors and medical staff, Landge said,”The medical staff had done an outstanding work in treating and saving the lives of COVID-19 patients. Among the COVID hospitals, Lokmanya was the first to be converted to a dedicated COVID-19 hospital which was highly praiseworthy. Their initiative was emulated by other hospitals at a time when fear was rife even among medical community.”

Dr Shrikrishna Joshi said,”With the donations from Habitat India and SBI, their bed capacity will go up by 50 beds. We have 84 beds which will go up to 136.”

Dr Joshi said the hospital has had highrecovery rate of COVID-19 patients. “We are the most preferred COVID hospital in Pimpri Chinchwad because of the high recovery rate. In the initial stage, we too faced challenges but we have overcome those and are now providing best of treatment,” he said. The hospital has treated 1427 patients and discharged 1227 patients, a press release said.

Dr Joshi said not one single patient has complained of high medical bill charged by the hospital. “That is why we have asked the government appointed committee which inspects the bills to give us an appreciation certificate. We deserve it as we are providing humane touch to the COVID-19 patients,” he said.
