Tharoor wins, partial media loses face

Women in for NDA exam as SC steps in
In a significant order, the Supreme Court has allowed women to appear for NDA exam. In an interim order on Wednesday, bench of the Supreme Court said the policy decision to bar women from admission to NDA is based on gender discrimination. The bench included Justice S K Kaul and Justice Hrishikesh Roy. Asking the government to take consructive view of the matter, the bench allowed permanent commission for women officers.
Desi Vaccines for children
In major development vis-a-vis vaccines, India is set to get an indigenous COVID-19 vaccine exclusively for children by Sepember. Quotiing Priya Abraham, director of National Institute of Virology, the Hindustan Times reported that phase 2 and phase 3 trials of Covaxin for the 2-18 age group are currently on. The result sare going to available very soon, Abraham said.
Kundra gets relief
In a relief to actor Shilpa Shetty’s husband, the Bombay High Court has granted interim protection from arrest for one week to Raj Kundra, the businessman who is currently lodged in Arthur Road jail of Mumbai in connection with the pronographic film racket. Kundra in his application said two other accused in the case had been granted protection and he also sought the protection on grounds of parity.
Sena flays Koshyari
The Shiv Sena has once again attacked Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, calling him the agent of central government. The Sena revived its attack on Koshyari over nomination of 12 people to state legislature. “Koshyari was acting like an agent of the central government…but we will not surrender like former Afghanistan president Ashraf Ghani,” he said.
