Pune: Under leadership and guidance of General Manager S Ram Karan Yadav, 98 hrs Non Interlocking (72 hrs under traffic and 26 hrs traffic block) at Miraj Yard in connection with commissioning of doubling between Sangli – Miraj ( 9.48 Kms.) section has been successfully completed on Friday.
During Non Interlocking, Major alteration in existing Miraj Route Relaying Interlocking (RRI) of 244 routes of ABB Make has been carried out.
First time on Central Railway, Free home and Advance Starter Signal with block protection has been provided during period of Non Interlocking.
This commissioning involved biggest yard remodelling in Pune Miraj doubling, stated a press release.
Salient features:-

Total routes after doubling – 244
Total sheets in circuit – 730
New sheets in this work – 202
Alteration in circuit – 455 sheets
Total jumpering done – around 8000
Jumpers pre-inserted – 6200
Jumpers inserted during Non Interlocking-1800
Testing carried out – Through mock panel for complete yard.
Additional work:-
Closure of 3 Level Crossing gates
1) Level Crossing -01 and Level Crossing -465 WSL gates of Miraj
2) Level Crossing -130 WSL gate of Sangli
2) Dispensation for 88 routes for flexibility in operations in Miraj existing RRI with PCOM sanction under GR 3.47, 5.16 & 5.16(1).
22 T- Outs laid.
It was difficult location for working of T 28 due to space constraint in cutting.
Complete crossovers laid in a single block with T 28. 4 such blocks were operated. 3 T Outs laid in a single day.
6 cut and connection were done.
Major Constraints:-
In this RRI, 3 major alterations have already been carried out which led to complexity in alterations in circuit due to major jumpering / sheets involved.
S& T Staff involved around 250+ including Railway staff and Contractor staff
Pune Divison supported the work whole heartedly.
Support was extended to Engg with P/Way supervisors, blacksmith parties for T Outs and track.machines .
For S&T large no of supervisors including Sr. DSTE Pune himself camped at Miraj for days together to get extremely difficult work of alteration of RRI.
Operating department at HQ and Divison was actively involved in grant blocks and management of traffic so that the executing departments can work freely, the press stated.
