Pune:-Senior Congressmen have decided to make appeal to the HC & SC to take suo moto action of the deteriorating law and order situation during the current three-party regime in Maharashtra Govt.
”Friday’s incident in a police station of Ulhasnagar where a BJP MLA opened fire at Shiv Sena leader is a prime example of the lawlessness and anarchy in the state of Maharashtra. It’s shocking & dangerous that the BJP MLA has openly accused Chief Minister Eknath Shinde for “promoting criminal activities and grabbing his crores of Rupees. This has become a blot on the face of a state like Maharashtra,” MPCC spokesperson Gopaldada Tiwari said at a press conference in the city on Tuesday.
”We the senior members of Pune Congress have decided to approach the Bombay high court and the Supreme Court in this regard. We are sending an appeal to the courts to take cognisance of the anarchy in Maharashtra and should suo moto initiate a probe,” Tiwari said.
Some of the senior Congress members who were present at the press conference include Madhubhau Sanas, Ramchandra Shedge, Subhash Thorve, Sambhajirao Paigude, Aba Pawar, Nandu Papal, Aba Jagtap, Prasanna Patil, Suresh Nangare, Nitin Paigude, Dhanjay Bhilare, Anna Gosavi, Shankar Shirke, Sanjay Abhang, advocate Swapnil Jagptap, Ganesh Shinde and others.
The Congress said serious charges have been made against none other than the Chief Minister. “There is need for a probe from none other than the courts. If a probe is conducted by the state government, it will go in favour of the Chief Minister. Only a court appointed probe will reveal the true facts and the correct picture of Maharashtra and what actually is going in the corridors of power,” Tiwari said.
The Congress leaders said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah do not seem to be happy with the progress made by Maharashtra and the peace and communal harmony that prevails in the state.”The BJP Government at the Centre brought down the MVA Government through its parrot agencies like the ED. And now it seems the BJP Government is bent on increasing crime rate in Maharashtra and spreading the drug mafia raj. The Government is trying to defame Maharashtra,” he said.
Tiwari said the law and order situation has deteriorated to such a level which Maharashtra had never witnessed.”Modi-Shah-Fadnavis are responsible for this state…The BJP and Shiv Sena dispute seems to be borne out of supremacy over property, money and wealth,” he said.
Tiwari reminded to the Modi Government that the Bombay high court had passed severe strictures over the rising criminal activities in the state before some months only. The court had passed strictures against the State Home Ministry, he said.
Tiwari said Maharashtra had always been a number one state on all fronts during the Congress regime. But during the BJP regime, it has sunk to new low. If the courts do not take necessary step, then the Congress will have no option to launch an agitation as Protest as Jan Andolan he said.
Tiwari criticised the statement made by BJP State president Chandrashekhar Bawankule and BJP leader Nitesh Rane. “BJP leaders are making shocking and disappearing statements. They are making provocative statements. Nitesh Rane had during a rally asked BJP workers to take whatever steps they can by disregarding the police. He had said that BJP workers can take the step because their ‘big boss HM Devendra Fadnavis’ Even was seating there in Sagar Bungalow it’s sign of at what level law & order & Gundaraj is developing in State of Maharashtra.
While Criticising on PM Modi’s speech in Parliament, Tiwari said,”Prime Minister went on and on only criticising the Congress. He stooped very low in criticising former Prime Ministers Pandit Nehru and Indira Gandhi. He forgot that it was Congress which brought about the development post the Independence. Be it on technology or scientific fronts, Congress has been instrumental in the country’s allround development. Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and BJP leader Sushma Swaraj had made a mention of the progress made during Congress regime in the UNO meeting. The Prime Minister is twisting the statements of former PM while trying to gain publicity. This is indeed shameful,” Tiwari said.
