Gopaldada Tiwari Slams Fadnavis  As Ashok Chavan joins BJP

Pune: CRITICISING the BJP for snatching its top leader in Ashok Chavan, the Maharashtra Congress today said BJP has carved out a niche for itself as the party which compromises with corruption for the sake of clinging on to power and in the process was trying to weaken opposition and thereny by weaken the democracy.

”BJP has leadership which relies on ‘bhashan baaji’ and claiming false credit for work not done. It is a party which has emerged as the one which compromises with corrution. It is left with no ability to demand votes on the basis of its own work. And in a bid to clinging on to power desperately, it was trying to weaken the opposition and thereby democracy,” said MPCC spokesperson Gopaldada Tiwari.

Mr Tiwari said BJP first makes allegations of corruption against opposition leaders and then rolls out red carpet for them and takes them into its fold. ”It is difficult to understand the level of politics to which BJP is stooping to hold on to the power,” Mr Tiwari asked.

The Congress reaction came after former chief minister Ashok Chavan joined the BJP today.

”Ashokrao Chavan is the son of former chief minister late Shankarrao Chavan. It is probably the only of its kind political family of Maharashtra. Ashok Chavan twice became the chief minister while his father served as chief minister as well as Union Minister,” Mr Tiwari said.

Condemnding the statement of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis who said many more Congress leaders will join the BJP, Mr Tiwari said.

”Fadnavis said ‘aage, aage dekho hota hain kya.’ This is nothing but a prime example of perverted political mindset. First BJP raises the bogey of corruption and dynastic rule and then it suddenly finds that Ashok Chavan was a mass leader. BJP is clearly a frustrated party,” he said.

Mr Tiwari said in a democracy sustained by the Congress for years, BJP has in the name of ‘Achche Din” given miserable time to the people through inflation, unemployment and black money. ”BJP came to power through false promises and by cheating the people of India. It failed to resolve the issue of common citizens, farmers, labourers and the poor masses. The country is today neck-deep in debt. The BJP has failed to tackle the issue of black money. Realising its failure and unkept promises, the BJP is now carrying forward for its import business by snatching oppostion leaders. This is illegal, immoral and unethical. BJP has no credibility, no political ideology and has no values of any kind. It has become a challenge for ideal political leaders to maintain their credibility, political ideology and moral values,” he said.
