Pune: Shanbhag Engineering Company (SEC) and Kirloskar Brothers Limited (KBL) joined forces to host an empowering session aimed at enhancing Pune’s firefighting safety standards. Held at Hotel Lemon Tree Premier, Pune, the seminar addressed critical aspects of Firefighting Safety for Life & Property. The event marked a significant milestone in bolstering the city’s fire safety infrastructure.

The fire safety industry and laws in India are paramount in ensuring the safety of lives and property in a country with a growing population and increasing urbanization. Fire safety is crucial in urban and rural habitats, and there must be continued investments in equipment and infrastructure to guarantee the safety of our citizens.

Firefighting agencies were urged to prioritize the highest quality, technically robust products by using genuine items compliant with national and state-level norms and building codes. The event received support from the Fire Contractors & Consultants Association, Pune.

Sanjay Kirloskar, Chairman & Managing Director of Kirloskar Brothers Limited (KBL), the Guest of Honour, addressed the seminar, covering the history of KBL, the wide range of trusted pumps manufactured and installed in iconic buildings worldwide, and the innovative technologies employed by them. Ms. Rama Kirloskar, Joint Managing Director of KBL, another Guest of Honour, emphasized that the supply of quality pump sets was not just a business but a passion at KBL. KBL introduced Smart IoT-based products for the Fire Fighting Industry well before the Government mandated their use. She also stressed the need for E-warranties to be registered to help customers ensure reliable working of life-saving fire-fighting pump sets.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Devendra Potphode, Chief Fire Officer of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), spoke about proper pump selection and overall fire system design. He highlighted the importance of MSMOs in high-rises and suggested that workshops for training should be planned and conducted by KBL for the installation and maintenance of fire-fighting pump sets in the fire-water pump house.

The meeting saw over 300 customers interact with each other and learn about KBL’s range of innovative solutions for the fire-fighting market. Benjamin Samuel, General Manager & Head – Building & Construction Sector, KBL, spoke about new internet-based technologies and pump products introduced by KBL and sold by SEC to provide superior solutions and best practices for the Building & Construction Industry.

Sunil Shanbhag, Managing Partner, stated that “SEC has been actively promoting KBL’s range of fire-fighting pumps in Pune since FY’17-18, establishing itself as a technically sound and commercially competitive KBL channel partner to firefighting consultants, contractors, and real estate developers. During this time, SEC has been repeatedly recognized by KBL for its sales performance in the region.”
