Pune, 18th February : To create awareness about Yoga and Surya Namaskar besides celebrating ‘Ratha Saptami’ in an unusual way, a one-of-its-kind Sun Salutation Challenge from sunrise to sunset was organized by Nikheal Dixit’s Yoga Vishwa Studio at Solaris Club in Mayur Colony, Kothrud Pune.
‘Ratha Saptami’ marks the birth of the Sun (Surya) God and hence is also celebrated as ‘Surya Jayanti’. To celebrate this uniquely, more than two hundred Punekar’s got together and performed 23 thousand Surya Namaskar from 6.30 am to sunset on 16th February 2024. During this challenge, Nikheal Dixit accomplished a remarkable feat by performing 1656 Surya Namaskar nonstop stated a press release.
Detailing out the challenge, Nikheal Dixit, Founder of Yoga Vishwa Studio said, “In the Vedic tradition a lot of importance is given to worshiping the Sun God. People worship the Sun in many different ways, however, I felt that the simplest and the most inclusive form of worshiping the Sun God is the Surya Namaskar. I believe that Surya Namaskar is not only a holistic exercise form, but also cures to many ailments and hence we organized this challenge”
Punekar’s from varied age groups participated in this challenge and completed this stupendous feat. The Chief Guests Johanus Pawar and renowned cardiologist Dr. Rituparna Shinde felicitated the participants during the closing ceremony of the challenge
