Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh has brought big cheer to the residents of the industrial city. In his budget presented today, he announced his administration’s intention to building a 850 bed hospital in the rapidly development Moshi area. The hospital construction will start in the coming days.
The move assumes significance as the PCMC run YCM hospital which has 750 beds is struggling to accommodate patients, especially those coming from Moshi, Dighi, Chakan and Alandi areas.
Presenting his budget, the PCMC commissioner also announced that at old Talera hospital, which also belongs to PCMC, they will set up a 30 bed ward for burns patients.
This is another very significant development as Pimpri-Chinchwad has no burns wards for burns patients. After the recent burns incidents, several patients had to travel all the way to Sassoon hospital in Pune which only added to their pain.
During the more than one hour presentation at PCMC headquarters, the commissioner presented a budget which is collectively over Rs 8000 crore including the central and state funds.
The commissioner also spoke about the 61 km roads which will be developed in areas like Wakad, Tathawade, Moshi, Wadhmukhwadi, Chikhli and other areas. All these areas were merged with PCMC after 1997. Roads in these areas are being continuously upgraded. These areas have better roads than other parts of the industrial city.
The PCMC budget has reserved Rs 1800 crore for development purpose which is one of the highest amounts.
The PCMC commissioner, during his budget presentation, also spoke about several steps like improving the medical facilities at all PCMC hospitals.
