Pune to get AIIMS, finally

PUNE has finally something to cheer vis-a-vis improved and advanced medical facilities. The BJP-led Maharashtra Government has decided to up the All India Institute of Medical Sciences.

This was announced by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar while presenting his interim budget for 2024-25

Once AIIMS is set up, it is expected to ease the heavy load on government-run Sassoon Hospital and the civic-run YCM hospitals. Both these hospitals are biggest once with collective bed capacity of around 2000.

Mr Ajit Pawar said the government intends to set up AIIMS on a vacant land of the Aundh District Hospital.

HEMRL can have a sigh of relief

The High Energy Materials Research Laboratory in Baner can now breathe easy. The Bombay High Court has ordered demoliton of structures located within a distance of 500 metres from the prestigious defence laborary. HEMRL is run by the Defence Reserach and Development Organisation or DRDO.

A two-judge bench of the Bombay High Court has given orders on February 23, said sources.

In its order, the high has said that there should be no compromise on the interest of the premier national institute.

The high court order came on a petition by the aggrieved parties, seeking stay on demolition by the Pune Municipal Corporation. PMC lawyer Abhijit Kulkarni told the high court that the petitioners had secured a stay from it by placing wrong facts. He said the petitioners did not inform the court that PMC had earlier partially demolished the structures which again sprung up at the same place.

Shivneri Museum In Junnar

THE Maharashtra Government has decided to set up a grand museum which will be called Shivneri Museum in Junnar.

The museum will be dedicated to the life and times of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the Great Warrior King.The museum will come up in Vadaj area of Junnar taluka.

In his interim budget presented before the state legislature, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said the state government was working overtime to restore the glory of the Shivneri fort, where Chhatrapati Shivaji was born in 1630.
