Fadnavis should cite reason for not giving Home Ministry to Ajit Pawar: Gopaldada Tiwari

Pune: A DAY after Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that he would not part the Home Ministry with another Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, the Maharashtra Congress sought to know the real reason behind the BJP leader’s statement.

”Fadnavis by making the statement at Namo Employment Fair in Baramati has cast aspersions on the credibility and capability of Ajit Pawar. It should be remembered it is the same BJP which first made allegations of corruption against Ajit Pawar and then joined hands with him and his party. And now, Fadnavis is making a statement which has raised eyebrows in political circles, ” said State Congress spokesperson Gopaldada Tiwari in a press release.

Tiwari said though the BJP had first joined hands with Eknath Shinde led Shiv Sena, it still laid out a red carpet for Ajit Pawar. ”Before doing so, it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who had made allegations of corruption in irrigation department which was headed by Ajit Pawar during the Congress-NCP rule. However, the BJP itself realised the allegations were false and then went on to join hands with Ajit Pawar and his 40 MLAs. Probably, BJP had realised Ajit Pawar’s efficiency and his ability as an administrator. It took barely 8 days for BJP to make a U-turn and accept Ajit Pawar. The party with a difference gave Ajit Pawar a share in the power,”he said.

Tiwari said the BJP was hiding something as it is refusing to give Home Ministry to Ajit Pawar. ”What is the BJP’s problem in not giving Home Ministry to Ajit Pawar. In this connection, it must be remembered that drugs worth over Rs 3000 crore were seized in Pune and Delhi and amount was apparently going to Delhi through hawala transactions. At the same time, the Pune police has drawn praise for its prompt and quick action in confiscating and arresting the drug mafia.”
