State Government Approves Pune Metro’s Extensions: Vanaz to Chandni Chowk and Ramwadi to Wagholi

Pune: Pune Metro’s Vanaz to Ramwadi stretch has received approval from the state government for extensions at both ends: Vanaz to Chandani Chowk and Ramwadi to Wagholi. Pune Metro has prepared a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for these extensions, which was initially submitted to the Pune Municipal Corporation for approval and later forwarded to the state government for further approval.

On March 11th, 2024, the state government granted approval for both sections. The Vanaz to Chandni Chowk extension spans 1.12 KM, all elevated, and has two stations: Kothrud Bus Depot Station and Chandani Chowk Station. The Ramwadi to Wagholi stretch, entirely elevated and spanning 11.36 km, will accommodate 11 stations: Viman Nagar Station, Somnath Nagar Station, Kharadi Bypass Station, Tulaja Bhavani Station, Ubale Nagar Station, Upper Kharadi Road Station, Wagheshwar Temple Station, Wagholi Station, Siddharth Nagar Station, Bakori Phata Station, and Vitthalwadi Station.

Together, these extensions cover a total of 12.75 km, all elevated, and comprise 13 stations. The estimated cost for this section is 3756.58 crores.

On this occasion, the Managing Director of Maha Metro said, “This is a natural extension for the Vanaz to Ramwadi line, which has been approved by the Government Of Maharashtra. This approval will expedite the implementation of these lines, providing significant benefits to the residents along Nagar Road.

Moreover, it will enhance accessibility for IT companies, financial institutions, schools, and colleges situated along the Ramwadi to Wagholi stretch, thereby alleviating congestion on the crowded Nagar Road. Similarly, the Vanaz to Chandni Chowk extension will help the residents and offices in the area.
