Share

Pimpri: A 60-bed cancer hospital will soon be established in Thergaon Hospital under the public-private partnership to elevate the specialised cancer treatment in the city limits. The tender for the construction of this modern facility was made public on March 12.

The hospital is designed to be future-proof, with plans to expand up to 100 beds to meet the growing healthcare demands. Spanning 34,848 square feet, the facility aims to enhance patient convenience with integrated parking facilities, addressing transportation concerns and facilitating easy access to healthcare services.

In addition to common cancer treatments like chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery, the hospital will offer supportive services such as counselling and rehabilitation. It will cater to various types of cancer, including breast, lung, colorectal, prostate, and cervical cancer. The pricing structure for services will be aligned with Mahatma Jyotiba Jan Arogya Yojana (MJPJAY)/Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) rates, making treatments accessible to all income groups.

PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh said, “The hospital will be equipped with cutting-edge technology, including Linear Accelerators, Brachytherapy units, and PET-CT scanners, ensuring that patients can access the latest treatment options. We are constantly working towards improving our facilities and providing the best possible service to our citizens.”

Medical Officer of Health, Dr Laxman Gophane, said, “The healthcare network at PCMC involves tertiary hospitals, secondary hospitals, and dispensaries. The proposed cancer set-up is at the newly built Thergaon facility which currently has a capacity of 200 beds.”
