Pune: FORMER Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, who is top Congress leader from Maharashtra, who has resigned from the party today said he had not yet decided to join the BJP.
”I was the Congress party member till yesterday. I also attended party meeting yesterday. But today I have resigned from the party and also an MLA,” Chavan told reporters around 3 pm.
Chavan said he had not taken the decision to join the BJP so far. ”I am looking at options. I will taken decision in next two days,” he said.
Chavan said it was true that party made him big leader. ”But I have contributed for the party in my on way,” he said.
Chavan said he has not spoken to any party leader. ”I got calls from party leaders. But I did not respond because the decision had been taken,” he said.
Chavan denied that several MLAs would be following him. ”I don’t who would follow me. But it is true that I have resigned,” he said.
Chavan conceded that the seat-sharing talks in MVA had hurt him. ”The seat-sharing was going on slowly…It could have proved advantageous to MVA,” he said.
When asked what is the reason for leaving the Congress, Chavan said,”It is not necessary that every decision has a reason behind it. I have worked honestly for the party and the party has also given me a lot.”
